Organization of Lesson Plans:

The Google Sheets document you'll purchase contains a note from me with 32 links. Each link gives you access to a full week of content with lesson plans (slides, printable documents, instructions, videos, bellringers, assignments, etc). You can click these links and it will give you permanent, full access to the entire year of lesson plans.

Each lesson is organized by the week and by the day. Week 5, day 3? I got you. Week 12, day 4? I got you. Week 27, day 2? You get the idea -- I got you.

  • To learn many hero myths of Greek and Roman culture and to discuss them with academic language

Unit 2

  • To read and analyze parts of The Odyssey, and practice the summarization of key ideas in a text

Unit 3

  • To learn how a person goes from ordinary to extraordinary through reading, writing, and discussing the content.

  • To find mentors (good examples) or anti-mentors (bad examples) in the text by finding human attributes which make the characters believable.

  • To find commonalities between various heroes in real life and in fictional texts and demonstrate this research in a final essay

Unit 6

  • Creating & Defining One's Self

  • To considering how we become what we think about; analyze logical fallacies and poetic devices utilizing Robert Frost, JFK, and various other authors.

Unit 7

  • Facing Change with Courage
  • Weeks 23-27
  • To write about heroes in real life who have not allowed their circumstances to define them while learning and utilizing rhetorical devices.

Unit 8

  • Declaring Your Genius
  • Weeks 28-32
  • To prepare for our final state assessment; compile a final portfolio of work which will be presented to a panel of professionals as part of your final grade.
