COOKING IN THE CLASSROOM is a great experience for students of all ages and abilities. It provides great life skills as well as sense of accomplishment. Cooking in the Classroom is lots of fun, but it also provides lessons in following directions, safety, functional skills, matching, and even writing that can be generalized outside of the school setting. I have found that by adding worksheets, task analysis and flashcards to my cooking units, the students remember the recipe so much better because they have experienced it in a variety of modalities.
