Description
This video guide is for The History Channel's popular Byzantine: Engineering an Empire documentary video (individual episodes are available on YouTube, or DVDs can be purchased from the History Channel). The guide is divided into five sections and covers the Byzantine Empire from its construction as the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire, through its development as the world's first Christian Empire, to its role in preserving Western Civilization during Europe's Dark Ages. There are a total of 27 narrative questions with fill in the blank answers that span the 45 minute video.
The narrative question format is designed to engage the students throughout the video, and focuses on historical, social and cultural aspects of the Byzantine Empire and its capital Constantinople.
