Description

This unit is a ten week unit where students will follow the Engineering Design Process!

The Engineering Design Process is a series of steps a person can take to create something which solves a problem.

1. Define the Problem

2. Do Your Research

3. Develop a Possible Solution

4. Design Your Solution

5. Build a Prototype

6. Test It

7. Evaluate Your Solutions

In the first week students are introduced to Engineers and the Engineering Design Process. They then follow the engineering design process using the resource book in this product. The resource book guides the students through the process with the teacher acting as a mentor (Similar to Genius Hour). They are required to carefully follow the Design and Technology process and need to reflect on their learning at the end.

The unit was designed for upper primary students to do for STEM. Check out the preview for a weekly breakdown.

Update: My students have finished their projects now. Some of the things they created were...

- An automatic pet feeder

- An oven powered by the heat from a car

- An x-box controller protective housing

- An artificial limb for a dog

- A pully system and capsule to safely lower an iPad from our 3rd floor balcony
