Engaging Students’ With Different Learning Styles
Description
Educators and education systems that identify the different learning styles of their students and attempt to teach to them can result in very different outcomes versus the traditional method of one-size-fits-all. No student is labelled better or worse than the others; instead, each student absorbs, understands and retains information differently. Delivering information in multiple of styles is pivotal when it comes to tapping into the full potential in each student.
It can be difficult for a single educator to accommodate a classroom full of students with different learning style, but with carefully planned lessons, it is possible. The teacher can alternate his or her teaching methods on select days. Or, better yet, the teacher can present material in a variety of styles, which helps all students receive information better by providing different views of the same information. Using different schooling methods also increases student engagement; delivering every lesson in the same way can bore even the students to whom a particular method is targeted.
