How the Zombie Teacher Escape Room Team Builder Works:

The activity begins with students watching a video that introduces the escape room back story. Students arrive at school to learn that their teacher has been transformed into a zombie. They find a book in the library on zombies, but the page with the ingredients they need to save their teacher has been ripped out. They must solve puzzles and riddles in the book to find what they need to save their teacher! Students will then circulate the room to six different stations or use the digital link to the digital escape room to find the answers or solution to puzzles and riddles at different stations or on the digital slides. Below are the different zombie-themed tasks included:

• Word Maze: Students make their way through a maze to reveal a riddle which will lead them to the first ingredient.
• Homophone Cipher Wheel: Students will correct homophone errors and use a cipher wheel to uncover the next ingredient.
• Jigsaw Puzzle / Riddle: Students put together a jigsaw puzzle to reveal a riddle which leads them to the next ingredient.
• Spelling Search: Students find and correct spelling errors to uncover the next hidden ingredient.
• Pictographs: Students will decipher pictograms to reveal hidden words. Once they have them all, they will input them into a table to reveal the next ingredient.
• Encrypted Message: Students will find zombie-inspired code images hidden throughout the escape room to crack an encrypted message that will help them reverse the zombie effects on their teacher.

➡️ Teacher Instructions: Use the detailed teacher instructions to help you set up the room and facilitate the escape room.

➡️ Escape Room Introductory Video and Narrative Backstory: Introduce the activity with this hand-drawn video that will hook students in immediately. Also included is a written version of the story to set up the escape room.

➡️ Student Instructions Story and Station Signs: Set up each of the six stations with signs to indicate the task number and type and student instructions for how to complete each task.

➡️ Escape Room Digital and Print Activities: The resource comes with all the materials students need to complete the activities at each station (mazes, rebus puzzle cards, homophone strips, spelling search cards, jigsaw puzzles, student instruction cards, envelopes, station markers and much more). Digital versions are also included of all the activities if you prefer students to use the digital option.

➡️ Student Answer Booklet or Slides: Have groups record their answers for each puzzle with the included student answer booklet (or slides for the digital version). After completing all sections of the booklet, students will reveal the ingredients and message needed to reverse the zombie effects.

➡️ Teacher Answer Key: Use the included teacher answer keys to check students’ work! This will help you determine a winner of this escape room activity and can also be used as a way to review each of the stations with students after the escape room is complete.
