What educators are saying

This was a great way to start the school year! Students were engaged and it was different from other get-to-know-you activities classes were having them do!
This is a very fun and interactive activity for students to do at the beginning of a new school year. My students enjoyed doing it!

Description

Get students to reflect on themselves at the end of the year as they show their writing skills using this personal narrative project. Students will create a personal memoir to reflect on important moments in their life, explain their significance, and connect the moments to music. Students love to write about themselves and music, so it is a win for everyone. Differentiate your instruction by offering students the option of using printable or digital materials. Both versions are included!

Teacher feedback

  • My students loved this activity and had a great time putting songs to their big life events. I was surprised at some, as they truly dug deep and found songs that reflected some very tough times in their young lives. Not only was this a great writing/presentation experience, but a great tool for emotional healing.
  • What a great resource to get to know your students and have them practice their writing simultaneously! I love that there are graphic organizers, too, and multiple ways to have the students complete the project!
  • A great resource for the beginning of the year or narrative writing unit!!
  • My students loved this resource! It was very easy to navigate and prepare! Thank you!
