Employment skills bundle for career/job readiness

You will receive a bundle of resources on Employability skills which is ideal for teaching a job related or job-seeking unit of work. Suitable for ESL, EFL, ELL, ADL youth, adult or vocational students. A total of 5 main resources in various formats. The various formats are provided for the convenience of selecting which one is most suitable for your teaching needs. Read the description below for details. The five resources are provided across four products as zipped files. These resources are also available individually in my store in case you would only like to use one or two of them. So I hope that you can use them all as a unit of work or job related theme for your students as I have for my students.

Employability skills introductory video

This resource includes 8 types of resources:

• 3 videos, a PowerPoint (14 slides)and a PDF document (14 pages) of the PPT.
• an engaging introductory video (2:06 mins) in 3 different formats (mp4, flv, wmv) which you can choose from with or without music (6 videos in total)

Skills and qualities introductory PPT

This 14 slide PowerPoint prompts learners to think about the difference between skills and qualities. After this, there are slides focussing on how to answer interview questions. The responses to the interview questions contain sentences describing both skills and qualities. Use the PPT to guide learners to think about their own responses.

A set of interview questions that you can cut up for a pair activity.

Entering employment requires knowing what employers are seeking and knowing what you can offer. These resources can help learners understand this and prepare their responses to common employment questions.

SUGGESTED USE

I recommend introducing students to the concept of employability skills first through one of the websites I have listed below. Employability skills are much more than soft skills or occupational skills. I suggest working through the resources in the following order.

1. Start with the introductory video and PPT.
2. Next, complete the job advertisement worksheet. (The bonus video file can be used in conjunction with this resource.)
3. Finally, this reading and writing activity to wrap up.
4. Use the interview cut up question activity for oral practice.
