These Emergent Readers are designed to help beginning readers build confidence and fluency through sight words and word families. The text does not always follow a predictable pattern, but rather provides students the opportunity to decode simple CVC words and practice sight word recognition. These books are perfect for shared reading and/or guided reading.

In Sets 1-5, the focus will be on pre-primer sight words and short vowels. Each reader will be 6 pages long when cut in half and there are a total of 15 different readers in each set. The readers are very easy to assemble. Each page only requires one cut across the middle and then simply staple the 6 pages together.
Sets 1- 5 includes the following sight words:
a, and, away, big, blue, can, come, down, find, for, funny, go, help, here, I, in, it, is, jump, little, look, make, me, my, not, one, play, red, run, said, see, the, three, to, two, up, we where, yellow and you.
Set 1 will also incorporate decodable CVC word families with the short a words. Word families included in Set 1 are: -ab, -at, -an, -ad, -ag, -am, and -ap.
Each reader will have a focused sight word, which will be included in all of the sentences. Here are the focused sight words for each reader in set 1:

Reader #3- Where
Reader #4- Little
