Looking for an extension activity for your DNA unit? Do you need a straightforward activity that students can complete without too much teacher assistance? This cancer webquest is the perfect activity for a curious group of students. Cancer has affected almost everyone in some way, so this lesson will be sure to engage students and connect to their real lives. This student centered activity will give a perfect overview of all the basics of this genetic disorder and open up interesting conversations.
Using this webquest, students will:
- read an article on cancer.gov to answer basic questions about what cancer is and what the main types of cancer are
- summarize common treatment options as well as their side effects
- conduct their own research into breakthrough treatment options as well as researching what it would take to actually cure this disease

This resource can be used by classroom teachers, tutors, and parents of students in grades 6-9.
