What educators are saying

This resource was so much better than teaching this topic in isolation. The students really understood and appreciated this lesson.
I needed something to give my students much needed application of story elements knowledge. These passages were exactly what I needed. They are challenging enough to make kids think. I used them for all levels of 8th grade ELA.

This resource includes the following digital versions:

  • Google Slides (link in PDF)

  • Easel Assessment (link in My Purchases)

(Note: questions are grouped by passage, so you won't want to shuffle them!)

Here's what's included:

  • 1 blank plot diagram with additional space for identifying setting, character, conflict, and theme

The plot diagram can be used with the passages provided or any story you read with your class! I recommend using it multiple times throughout the school year to cement the elements of a story in your students' minds and help them visualize the parts of a story as they read fresh text.
