Elementary Poetry Mini Script For Performance Elementary Drama Activities

A simple mini script and drama unit for younger students who want to give a performance of the narrative poem Matilda by Hilaire Belloc. The lesson plan is very easy to follow and younger children love the gruesome nature of the poem! The whole unit could easily be taken 'from page to stage' in a week or two.

Cast: 2 main characters; 4 Narrators; Firemen/Fire Officers - as many as you like!; Townspeople - as many as you like!

Running Time: approximately 20 minutes, depending on the length of the improvised sections.

The poem is brought to life through narration, mime, improvisation, role-play, choral speaking and freeze-frames. This pack contains a great little script for younger students to perform, or for students who are new to performing. It's a perfect performance for assembly presentations, topic days, poetry days, and performances to the rest of the school and to parents.
