Description
October elementary music favorites! These are some of my best-selling resources for October. There are 4 resources included:
Danse Macabre Active Listening Guide (grades 3-5)
- Worksheet that breaks the 7-minute piece into small sections to guide student listening
- Asks students to listen for specific instruments, dynamics, dialogue between sections
- Also asks students to imagine the scene and draw what they think is happening
- Teacher timing guide included
- Color and B&W versions included
I use this listening guide to introduce the piece. This makes it much easier to do some of the fun glow stick and movement routines found on youtube!
Halloween Themed Rhythm Composition Board (grades K-2)
- 4 beat and 8 beat template
- Rhythm cards for ta, titi, too, and rest
- Say the names of the items ("witch" for ta, "pumpkin" for titi, "boooo" for "too," and "web" for rest) or use Kodaly terms
- Color and B&W versions included
- Stick notation included for ta and titi
These boards are always a big hit with students and a great way for me to assess their progress. Sometimes I let them choose an instrument to play their rhythms on and other times we make it a quick check.
Halloween Color by Note/Musical Symbol (grades K-5)
- 3 color by note (easy, medium, and difficult versions)
- 3 color by treble clef (space notes, line notes, all notes)
- 3 color by symbol (dynamics, treble/bass clef, repeat sign, etc)
I use these on Halloween party day (let's be honest, no real learning is happening that day!) or with subs!
Halloween Themed Daily Slides
- 5 sets of different slide designs
- 30 slides per set
- Spots for daily agenda for grades K-5, helpers, movement, instruments, song lyrics, rhythm of the day, and three blank templates for you to customize
- Powerpoint version and Google Slides links (TPT won't access your drive)
I display these every day, and students know to look at the board for information rather than asking me individually. It's really nice putting all my links into a slide show so I don't have tons of tabs open too!
I hope these lessons and resource help you plan your October! It's always a busy (but fun) month in my music room!
