Description
I am a strong proponent of project based learning and I have recently started my journey with Genius Hour. I have just started my second Genius Hour course. I struggled to keep my students focused, and able to deal with the inevitable failures.
Like others, I did not want to assess the content as I wanted to foster intrinsic motivation, but I felt like I needed a tool to help students with the skills needed for a successful completion of the project.
I looked everywhere for a rubric to cover my needs, but as an elementary teacher, one didn't seem to exist. So I have created my own and entitled in GROW. I find this term very helpful as I remind my students why we do Genius hour.
As I said, I designed this with Genius Hour in mind. It can be used for any project, or indeed to teach skills around a growth mindset.
