What educators are saying

We used this for our art center and the kids did such a good job! It took them about 40 mins to complete. This will be sent home at the end of the year! I would buy this again and use year after year!
Great project for my flower unit. The students had fun with this and were engaged and learning the entire time. Their finished work looks great. Thanks!

Description

Struggling to find time in your day to plan, prep, AND teach art? In my first few years of teaching, I depended heavily on craftivities and directed drawings to fill my "art" time - there was just too much to prep! While there is nothing wrong with those activities, they can't replace an art lesson focused on essential art concepts, studying famous artists, learning artistic techniques, and exploring different media. These Bite-Size Art lessons will take your whole-class art instruction to a whole new level!

This seasonal art project is paired with no-print, low-prep digital lesson focused on foundational art concepts. This "bite" focuses on Impressionism.

PART 1: THE LESSON -

This "bite" is meant to be projected on your whiteboard. This lesson can be done all at once (in roughly 30 minutes) or can be broken up into "bites" and used as a quick morning activity, as a transition back into learning from recess, at snack time, or at the end of the day.

Topics Covered:

  • What is Impressionism?
  • What are the Characteristics of Impressionist Artworks?
  • Who were the Impressionists?

PART 2: THE PROJECT -

Students will use their new knowledge of Impressionism to make a beautiful painting. Simply prep the materials, pull up the presentation, and go! A cute little character will guide you and your students through creating an art project that correlates with the lesson they just completed!

Museum Walk

This routine will give students time to thoughtfully appreciate their fellow artists' work and give them compliments!

Display!

Hang the projects in your room or in the hallway alongside a pre-made write up explaining the purpose of the lesson and what students learned. Everyone in the building will be impressed by your students art expertise!
