ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES PROJECT
With this differentiated project, students relate the concepts they learned about waves and electromagnetic radiation to real-world applications. All living things give off electric currents and fields. Sharks are perfectly wired to detect these fields. In fact, this is how they hunt from long distances.
This project begins with a 2-part concept review:
•Part 1: Fill-in the blank review of waves
•MRI machines, how they work and relate to frequency
•MRI machines can also be related to the Bohr model of the atom
•Summary portion with prompt
•Part 2: WebQuest including videos explaining how sharks use electromagnetic fields and their sixth sense
•ANSWER KEY INCLUDED!
The next portion of the project provides students with 4 options to choose from:
•Flipbook
•Breaking News Article
•Documentary Storyboard
•PowerPoint
•RUBRIC INCLUDED!
This project not only reviews the main portions of waves and the electromagnetic spectrum, but it includes information interesting and relevant to students. Being able to provide students with options for their final project empowers them and helps them stick to their best skills.
