Part of the Español con ánimo Political Series, this lesson pack is geared toward Intermediate Spanish learners and uses 9 activities to teach 18 Spanish politics and election nouns and verbs. All activities engage learners in comprehending and practicing vocabulary around the theme of: Elections and Politics.
Recommended for: Upper-Middle grade 8 (depending on student learning level), High School grades 9-12, and for Undergraduate or Continuing Adult Education students.

Activities 1-2: Vocabulary Introduction and Fill-in-the-Blanks - Introduces students to the new nouns and verbs as a fill-in-the-blanks sentence activity.
Activity 3: Peer Partner Interview - Students imagine that they're a political reporter interviewing a presidential candidate (their partner) in Spanish. They ask questions of their partner and then record their answers in full sentences.
Activity 4: News Article with Reading Comprehension (3 Pages)

Activity 5: Hear from the Candidates and Vote (2 Pages) - Students first read the promises of imaginary presidential candidates then complete a worksheet that tests their comprehension in a “who said what” checklist and cast a ballot for the candidate they like best.
Activity 6: Freewriting Sentence Activity Worksheet - Students create 10 sentences using the new vocabulary with encouragement to conjugate the new verbs wherever possible.
Activity 7: Voting Poster Translation Activity Spanish > English (2 Pages)
