Description

Numbers never lie, but this worksheet has some numbers that appear pretty deceptive! I've listed common facts for the presidential elections, all of which have numerical answers. But the facts are not matched up with the numbers-- and many of the answers seem like they don't make sense. Can be used to teach search engine strategies as well as facts about presidents and elections. Current for 2012.

Includes a page to match numbers with facts, a page with blanks to provide numbers, and an answer key.

This also makes a great puzzler for adults and high school students. Enjoy stumping yourself and your elders, and thanks for teaching people about voting!

Numbers included:
terms a president can serve
years in a presidential term
years a president can serve
date of inauguration in January
presidents we have had since 1789
presidents who died in office
presidents elected to more than one term
presidents who served more than one term
age you can vote
age you can be president
age of Obama at inauguration
electoral votes in the entire country
electoral votes needed to win the election
electoral votes won by Obama in 2008
days in a leap year (irrelevant, but I needed the number!)
representatives in the US House

Curious Questions: (**Spoiler Alert!**)
+27 presidents have served two terms, but only 19 were elected twice. Explain the other 8.
+Which amendment limited the length of the president's term? Which president served more than 10 years?
+Who was our youngest president? (I found this fact listed incorrectly one one site!) Our oldest president? How old is Mitt Romney?
+Can election day be on November 1?
+What is Tecumseh's Curse?
