This low-prep, time-saving digital activity resource is perfect for 3rd-6th graders learning about Elections and Voting in a fun way!

Transform your Election Day lessons with this engaging digital secret code activity resource. Designed for 3rd-6th graders, this resource allows students to practice reading comprehension and using text-based evidence to support their answers while decoding a secret cipher and revealing a final code word. With quick setup and clear student directions, this resource is perfect for centers, substitute days, or independent work. Students won't even realize they're learning about Elections and Voting as they eagerly decode the secret cipher!

**This resource uses Google Sheets for students to "make a copy" of this digital activity so that each student can figure out the secret cipher and secret code on their own. Directions on how to do the activity are included in the digital activity.

Instructions:


1. Share the link in the PDF with each student to make their own copy of the digital resource.

2. Provide students with the included directions and the Election Day reading passage.

3. Students answer the 10 questions, typing their answers in the blank answer squares.

4. As students type in the correct answers, the cipher will start to appear in its correct spot.

5. Once all questions are answered correctly, students can decode the secret cipher to reveal the final code word.

6. Use the provided answer key to check student responses and assess understanding.
