What educators are saying

I love this resource. I did edit the PowerPoint slightly to fit my needs. I teach lower-level 7th-grade students with IEPs. These really helped me progress monitor them in elaborating on their writing. Thanks!
This is a skill that my students this year struggled with. This resource provides support in teaching this skill.

Description

I finally figured out that if my students knew how to elaborate in their essays, they would. I kept giving them sentence starters to help them, but that wasn't enough. Finally, after a few years of studying this, I have created Elaboration 101. Now that I'm teaching them how to elaborate, they are actually attempting to use the strategies in their writing.

In this resource, you will be getting:

•38 slide instructional power point that teaches students to use an anecdote, example, or explanation to elaborate when writing opinion and expository/informational essay; In the power point, there is both guided and independent practice opportunities.

•3 Practice pages for each type of elaboration taught – 1 for anecdote, example, and explanation

•5 Task cards that can be used for stations, etc.

•2 Full essays in which students fill in the elaborations – one opinion and one expository/informational

You will also get a step by step teacher guide that shows you the order in which to use the power point, tasks and practice pages.

This product would be great with one of my best sellers:
