What educators are saying

I had done egg drops in the past with my classes, but this was the first time I used a guided project. This resource made it MUCH easier for me, and my students were fully engaged. They enjoyed the project more than in years past.

Description

Engineering challenge for students - How can we protect an egg from a fall from a great height? Great for STEM!

The product includes:
*Laboratory Information Sheet - includes project description, objective, procedure, supplies, rules
*Rubric - a color copy and a blackline copy
*Lab Reflection Questions
*Lab Worksheet for Drawing

This lab is geared toward middle school but could easily be adapted for students of other ages, This project is great for STEM, end of the year activity, physics units, and beyond!

In my opinion, this product could be used to support the teaching of Next Generation Science Standard MS-ETS1-1** when used in conjunction with other materials. To be clear - this is not a comprehensive guide to the standard but I believe it could be used to start students on the path to mastering it. The standard states:
"Define the criteria and constraints of a design problem with sufficient precision to ensure a successful solution, taking into account relevant scientific principles and potential impacts on people and the natural environment that may limit possible solutions."
