Description

Engaging, low-prep Egg Drop engineering challenge where students create a casing to protect their egg from a 10+ foot drop! Great hands-on activity that can be connected to kinetic and potential energy, energy transfer, and teamwork.

Includes:

  • Student sheet with directions and space for drawing designs and reflections
  • 2 directions slides to present as they build
  • Google slides editable!

Goal:  Build a protective case that will prevent 

an egg from breaking when dropped from 10+ feet.

Supplies: 1 cardboard piece, 1 cup, 4 newspaper sheets, 1 balloon,  

scissors, tape, 1 egg

  1. Draw your design* with the materials in mind.
  2. Build your design (be careful with your materials!)
  3. Drop your egg and case from the designated height.

*You must be able to safely remove and observe the egg after the drop!
