This is an easy to use writing checklist that is perfect for upper elementary students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade during writing time in person or while distance learning. This checklist helps keeps students independent and accountable when editing their writing work, and is great for students with executive functioning needs. Using a checklist like this during your writing workshop or writing block allows students to move through their writing piece one step at a time- instead of being overwhelmed with all the steps involved in editing at once!

This checklist uses the acronym COPS to help students remember what to look for while editing:

Capitalization

Order & Organization

Punctuation

Spelling

Each section includes reminders of what to look for while editing, as well as a box for students to check off as they complete each step!
