The mystery of Edgar Allan Poe's death is investigated with this exciting CSI activity! Start with the exploration through Poe's troubled past in original handouts and a Background Information Sheet. Then go through a powerpoint presentation with specific (strange!) information about his death while the students fill out his Death Report. Finally, end the lesson with the creation of the Incident Report that has the students create their own theory based on the information handed to them to what actually happened to Edgar Allan Poe the night that he died. This fun, hands on activity not only gets the students up and moving, but also excited for the short stories they are to read afterwards!
