1.) The Levels of Organization and Components of an Ecosystem

-Overview of the definition of ecosystem, how it is made up of living and non-living things to help sustain life (biotic and abiotic)

-Types of biotic factors – producers, decomposers, consumers

-Abiotic factors that are important for survival (sunlight, temperature, water)

-The levels of organization within an ecosystem (ecosystem, community, population, habitat, niche, and single organism or life form) definition of each level

This teaching resource is quite the virtual experience! This Ecosystems Interactive PowerPoint can be used as a powerful classroom presentation or students can click their way through it on individual computers. (16 pages)

- Ecosystems STEM Challenge

The assigned STEM group must first choose a biome or type of ecosystem. (ex: Tundra, Grassland, Forest) Using the materials below, students must create a marble run that features different levels of the food web. They must include a producer, a primary consumer, secondary consumer, and a tertiary consumer. There can be more than one of each type of consumer, but there must be at least one of every level. The marble maze must direct the ball going up the various interlocking paths along the food web. Animals and consumer types must be labeled in their design. Drawings, computer clipart, or figurines can be used. More directions are found in this resource! (10 Pages)

- Ecosystems Google Classroom Student Projects

This product contains 2 digital projects that students can complete using Google Slides! This resource has a brochure project and an info-graphic / poster project.

Each student-centered project has a sample project and detailed project instructions for the students.

Info-graphic / Poster Project

Using a list of topics, student choose what they would like to research related to ecosystems. All of the elements in the info-graphic must be organized, clearly visible, and well placed. Creativity with color and photos is a must! **More instructions found in the resource

Brochure Project

Using a template, students design an informational brochure that highlights important facts and topics about ecosystems.

- Ecosystems Assessment/Exam

This product contains an assessment that has vocabulary matching, fill in the blank, short answer, essay, and an info-graphic! It has 18 questions total.

It also contains an ANSWER KEY and an EDITABLE powerpoint file.

- Changes in Our Ecosystem

This fun, foldable activity will allow students to learn the differences between human activity and natural events that can impact our ecosystems. They draw an example of each type of event or activity and write a sentence inside the flap using an example of how it affects the ecosystem.
