What educators are saying

My students enjoyed this! A couple of groups carried the project over into their shop class where they designed and built prototypes of products. Other groups filmed really great commercials. They learned a lot and had fun too.

Description

Are you ready to turn your students into entrepreneurs? Your students will design and then pitch their inventions to successful investors (sharks). Then, the Investors decide who gets their investment. In this project, your students become the entrepreneurs and pitch their own products! This is by far my favorite Economics project of the year. Watching my students "learn by doing" while having fun, engaging in a little friendly competition, and getting a taste of business brings a smile to my face every single year. Your students will truly love it-trust me :)

This project will engage your students as they further explore the main topics of the supply and demand unit in Economics! This project also serves as an interactive way for your students to review the major concepts of: incentives in marketing, cost of production, supply & demand, and profit while also practicing their presentation skills!

This project is best used to review the major topics before a unit exam or as the culminating assessment for the unit or even as a primary method for teaching the major topics in a project-based classroom. If you choose to use it as the last option, you will need to supplement the project with lessons about the main topics as students complete each phase. I personally use this project in my 12th grade Economics course to review the major topics before our unit exam.
