What educators are saying

I really enjoyed this resource. It is so hard to find resources that are aligned with the NGSS standards. I used this as part of my assessment. Thank you!
My students were extremely engaged with all the interaction, and I love that there was a grading rubric. Easy to use and informative.

Here is a video to share with your students on how to create a digital model with this resource on Earth's spheres. Click HERE.

What is this earth's spheres activity?

  • 5th grade science students will create an interactive digital model explaining how two of earth's four spheres interact.
  • Students can describe how the biosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and geosphere connect while using engaging gifs (moving pictures), labels, and art in this interactive science activity.
  • All of the art and labels are included for this Earth's spheres lesson! Four slides are included so students have plenty of options for modeling earth's spheres.
  • Students drag and drop tags and clip art to create a digital model of Earth’s spheres and describe how two of the four spheres interact - biosphere, geosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere. For example, students might explain how plants and animals are part of the biosphere and need water, which is part of the hydrosphere, to survive. Be sure to check out the video included.

NGSS5-ESS2-1
Develop a model using an example to describe ways the geosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and/or atmosphere interact. Examples could include the influence of the ocean on ecosystems, landform shape, and climate; the influence of the atmosphere on landforms and ecosystems through weather and climate; and the influence of mountain ranges on winds and clouds in the atmosphere. The geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere are each a system. Assessment is limited to the interactions of two systems at a time.
