Description

This review aligns with the Common Core State Standards:

"STANDARD 7 - The Earth

The competent science teacher understands the dynamic nature of the Earth and recognizes that its features and structures result from natural processes. 7E. analyzes and explains large scale dynamic forces, events, and processes that affect the Earth's land, water and atmospheric systems. 7F. identifies and explains Earth's processes and cycles and cites examples in real-life situations. 7H. identifies and evaluates the uses of Earth's resources.

7I. demonstrates abilities to use instruments and/or to explain functions of the technologies used to study the earth sciences."

ActivInspire review of the Earth/Space Units I-III that includes "Minerals," "Rocks and the Rock Cycle," and "Landforms, Weathering, Erosion." (Used to help review for the "quarter-final" assessment.)

Questions include a total of 27 true/false; multiple choice and numeric/text entries. A PDF student study guide/worksheet can also be generated using this program.

*All PowerPoint lessons; ActivInspire programs; student worksheets/activities and assessments for all units can be found under the "Earth/Space Complete Units I-X Listings" (Units I-III are currently posted - other units will be added soon).

Follow precisely a multistep procedure when carrying out experiments, taking measurements, or performing technical tasks.
Determine the meaning of symbols, key terms, and other domain-specific words and phrases as they are used in a specific scientific or technical context relevant to grades 6–8 texts and topics.
Integrate quantitative or technical information expressed in words in a text with a version of that information expressed visually (e.g., in a flowchart, diagram, model, graph, or table).
Compare and contrast the information gained from experiments, simulations, video, or multimedia sources with that gained from reading a text on the same topic.
By the end of grade 10, read and comprehend science/technical texts in the grades 9–10 text complexity band independently and proficiently.
