What educators are saying

I loved that this resource was perfectly aligned with my first grade standards. The students were having fun and were engaged all while learning! Thank you for such a great resource! Earth Day was a blast!

Description

Integrate Earth Day activities and math skills practice with this Earth Day Math Centers packet created for first grade. Use it during the month of April. The 8 centers include time to the hour and half hour, place value, number order, operation sort, comparing numbers, number bonds, adding and subtracting tens, and measurement.

Use the centers for guided math practice, for spring math stations, or for whole class math instruction.

Each of the centers has a description card and recording sheet(s). Center choice pocket chart cards, a student menu, 100 chart, and counters are also included.

The 8 centers include:

  • Time to Recycle – Time to the Hour and Half Hour

Match the clocks to the correct times. Draw hands on the clocks and write the times for each clock.

  • Recycle, Reduce, Reuse – Add or Subtract Sort

Sort the equations by operation: add or subtract. Write the equations with the missing operation signs.

  • Save the Earth – Place Value

Match the place value rods to the corresponding expanded notation. Write the expanded notations and total amounts.

  • Recycle It! – Number Order

Write each set of 4 numbers in order from least to greatest.

  • Plant a Tree – Smallest and Largest Numbers

  • Be Earth Friendly – Number Bonds

Find the number that is missing on each of the number bonds. Write the missing numbers.

  • Happy Earth Day! – Add and Subtract Tens

Add or subtract tens from each given number. Write the sums or differences and how many tens.
