Description
Distance Learning Update: This close reading freebie is newly edited to include a digital version for Distance Learning! This update is designed to work with Google™ Slides, Google™ Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and Seesaw.
This CLOSE READING FREEBIE was created to help students develop strategies to read complex texts independently. This Close Reading passage is accompanied by several text-dependent questions and writing prompts for your students to cite evidence from the text, as well as questions that require them to infer and think deeply about the text.
I love having my students compare this passage to Peter Brown's book, The Curious Garden! The Curious Garden is a fictional story inspired by the New York City High Line. It's a great way to engage students in comparing and contrasting stories in different genres.
