    Description

Complete bundle about Early West African Civilizations, targeting especially Middle School students, following Californian Social Studies standards and Common Core. This bundle is a part of Medieval & Early Modern History full course that can be found here.

You will find 3 PowerPoint presentations (good for 4 90-minute long teaching blocks) to introduce all major topics, such as

    • Effects of physical geography and climate on earliest history in West Africa,
    • Society, social classes, economics and sources of wealth in West African civilizations,
    • Role of religion in West African civilizations,
    • Effects of West African civilizations on surrounding regions,
    • Reasons why West African civilizations declined,
    • Major scientific and artistic heritage of West African civilizations.

Presentations are highly interactive and are visually attractive for young learners. Each presentation includes warm-up activities which go either as stand-alone tasks or simple worksheets within the bundle. Each presentation also includes several follow-up activities and/or worksheets, which are all included, too (either in the bundle or in the bonus folder)! Check all details in the list of resources included.

Besides, included are also 2 study guides in a simple form with vocabulary and open-ended questions, as well as test review study guide with sample quick questions to develop necessary historical thinking skills. The study guides include questions about Mesoamerican civilizations, so little filtering might be needed.

Your students can enjoy 2 games to review their knowledge and develop competitive spirit before writing a unit test. They include questions about Mesoamerican civilizations, so a little bit of filtering might be needed. The games can be used either to review before unit test or final exam.

You do not need to prepare a vocabulary quizzes and summative unit test either! There are two different forms, so that you can decrease the chances that students would plagiarize. The summative test covers chapters of Early West African Civilizations and Mesoamerican Civilizations, too. Answer keys are included.

As a bonus, you will find a simple pacing calendar with lesson plans indicating what topic to teach in which week.

In the bonus folder, you will find also 1 additional Document-Based Questions task, which is publicly available online, but you do not need to spend your time searching for it now!

All files are suitable for e-learning. They are fully editable, but ready-to-use without any further changes as well.
