EV3 Critical Thinking Robot Task Set A & Teacher Resource Bundle (non-SCRATCH)

First, I created a set of student challenge cards for an individually paced EV3 curriculum that integrates critical thinking skill into the robotics experience. Each challenge builds on the previous challenges to develop a rich understanding of programming through experience.

Included in this set of student challenge task cards is 6 engaging multipart programming challenges that use critical thought to introduce students to basic MindStorm EV3 programming skills. Most robotics curriculum "feed" the programming steps to the students by providing step by step instructions. Others are too basic or too complex for my students. My task cards introduce students to a one or more blocks, sensors or flow controls on each card and then ask students to reason though activities of increasing difficulty. One poster template is also included for making a mat needed to complete one of the challenges.

This resource is the teacher "cheat sheet" to shorten your own learning curve! It is NOT designed to be shared with students but rather to build your knowledge of programming EV3 so you can support you students critical thinking skills without spending HOURS watching youtube videos, wading through programming manuals and trial and error.

Included are annotated screenshots for each of the 6 Level A student challenges. Learn to use move blocks, sensors, loops, switches, displays and sounds! All task cards in this set require the basic robot included in the EV3 education set instructions.

I use these cards with students as young as gifted 2nd grade and throughout upper elementary grades. It would also be appropriate for mid-school students. I allow groups to work through each task card at an independent pace.
