Description
This vocabulary workbook sample builds basic everyday vocabulary for beginning English language learners. Activities are designed so that newcomers, or students with limited English vocabulary, are able to work on them independently, with minimal teacher support. The activities are also perfect for small group instruction!
This SAMPLE is Topic 1 in Unit 1, COLORS.
Each vocabulary workbook unit contains six topics. Each topic has a reference poster and several practice pages. Students use the reference posters to independently complete the practice pages.

This sample resource also provides alternative spellings for "color" and "gray" (colour & grey) for teachers outside the U.S.
During reading or writing workshop, beginning ELs need meaningful activities that they are able to do with minimal teacher support. This resource provides them with exposure to, and practice with, basic vocabulary. Incorporate the activities into small group instruction with your beginning ELs for additional support in building their English language skills.
