How It Works:

In this product, you will find several charts that will be useful for any ESL student (kid, teen, or adult) working to learn past simple and past participles of irregular verbs in English.

The charts are organized by their "past participle family", which will help students group which verbs have similar past participles. Their "family" pertains to the ending of the verb's past participle, or the vowel change in the past participle. The families are -EN, -NE, -N, U, and OTHERS (read below to see which verbs are included in each "family").

Each "past participle family" lists the infinitive in groups with other verbs that share commonalities in the past simple form & past participle (example: wear/wore/worn, swear/swore/sworn, tear/tore/torn). See preview.

You will see that some of the charts have fill-in-the-blank lines for students to complete the past simple form, and some charts do not have this. It is up to you what you prefer your students to have. All of the charts have blank spaces for the past participle column. See preview.

There is also a completely blank chart for you/students to fill with whichever verbs you please. See preview.
