An X-Ray poster is one in which a large figure of a person is drawn on poster paper, and flaps are created for the major parts of the body with detailed information about that person under the flaps. For example, under the flap of the heart, detailed information about what that person is passionate about can be found. Ideas about their ideal form of government can be found under the flap on the head. Please see PREVIEW and FEEDBACK. Both Print & Digital (Google drive) versions are included! Perfect for Distance Learning.

1. Students can rotate the biography placards
2. Students can represent a philosopher and teach each other
3. Students can complete a gallery walk of the philosophers
4. Students can make small versions instead of the poster size

You will begin with a PowerPoint introduction to the Enlightenment and then assign groups one of the following nine philosophers: John Locke, Thomas Hobbes, James Madison, Baron de Montesquieu, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Mary Wollstonecraft, Thomas Jefferson, Simón Bolívar, or Plato. You will then assign each student a specific role and review the detailed directions and grading rubric. Students will then complete the corresponding template and X-Ray poster.
Once all posters are complete, students will hang up their posters around the room and complete a Gallery Walk using the corresponding worksheet. A quiz is included as well as a ticket out the door to assess their knowledge. This is one of my students’ favorite activities!
