ENGLISH SYNONYM WALL

After grading essays and noticing the EXTREME use of overused adjectives, synonyms and verbs, I decided to create this SYNONYM WALL.

To start it off, learners have to find appropriate synonyms for the words already on the wall. I now highlight overused or bland words in essays, write them in the empty blocks and then learners have to find contextually appropriate synonyms.

PRINT, CUT, LAMINATE and complete with a non-permanent marker. Reprint the last two pages as many times as you like to create the wall.

This has been great fun so far and we are thinking of inviting other classes to participate. We will then put it up in the hallway so that it remains visible.
