ELL strategies for the REGULAR (mainstream) education teacher

This updated (2024) booklet provides you with ideas, strategies, insights and tips that can help you when you are providing instruction to the ELL child in the regular classroom. No one strategy works for every child. Strategies given may be tweaked or adapted to meet the needs of the student you are working with. This booklet is also intended to give you insights into what the ELL student may face on a day-to-day basis and to help you understand the process an English learner goes through on their way to becoming a fluent English speaker. This ELL strategy booklet is great for all elementary regular education teachers who have an ELL student in their classroom. ELL students often are pulled out to receive ELL services, but the majority of their day is in the regular classroom, so this helps to equip the regular classroom teacher.
