Description

This EGGcellent! Egg Grading Lab Activity is an engaging, hands-on resource that goes hand in hand with a unit and/or lesson on Poultry!

This activity allows students to learn about the USDA's process of grading eggs for market, as well as try their hand at grading actual eggs in class based on their external and internal characteristics!

The front page of the resource focuses on external grading; students should look for any faults in the shell's texture, size, shape, and any discoloration.

The back page of the resources focuses on internal grading; students should look for blood spots, meat spots, watery or discolored yolks, etc.

Note: For best results and most variation in grades, use farm fresh eggs!

(Eggs you buy in the grocery store are already graded, so they will be very similar!)

* This activity is a great pairing with my Egg Dissection Lab Activity!
