EDITABLE Spelling Practice: Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check, Fancy Font

Students LOVE learning their spelling words using this research-based technique!

Steps

-Students look at the word, noticing any spelling patterns or unique letter combinations, and then write a checkmark in the column.

-Students say the word to themselves and out loud in a whisper voice and write a checkmark in the column.

-Students cover the word with their hand, write the word without looking at it, and then place a checkmark in the column.

-If they spell the word correctly they place a checkmark in the "check" column. If they misspell the word they correct their mistake and put a star in the column, signaling that this is a word that needs practice.

-Students copy the word once more in a fancy font (squiggle letters, bubble letters, all caps, colorful letters, etc.)

This resource is editable so you can type weekly spelling words directly on it or switch it up from "fancy font" (ideas included)! Makes a terrific Word Work Center!
