DOWN BY THE BAY is one of the best songs to use in your classroom for teaching phonemic awareness and rhyming. An interactive anchor chart and rhyming activities will be a hit with your kindergarten and first grade students. There are 3 powerhouse activities included with this cost effective product which you can see in more detail below.

INCLUDED IN THIS DOWNLOAD:

*Activity #1- a mini anchor chart with the lyrics to the song.

*Activity #2- pocket chart strips and Rhyming Memory Pictures to complete sentences.

*Activity #3- 12 different spinner boards with corresponding recording sheet

✅Activity #1 includes an Interactive Chart and pieces including: a bear combing his hair, a whale with a polka dot tail, a fly wearing a tie, a cat wearing a hat, llamas wearing pajamas, and a moose kissing a goose. Simply print, laminate, and add Velcro to the pieces and you are set. There is also a printable where students can create their own rhyme for the anchor chart.

✅Activity #2 includes sentence strips for your pocket chart that show "______ rhymes with ______". This includes 66 pairs of rhyming picture cards. A picture can be inserted into your pocket chart before and after to complete the sentences correctly. In addition, these cards make a great set of cards for a memory game or matching game. And as you know, pictures can often have more than one word that goes with them. So I've included a rhyming KEY for you so you have an easy and quick reference to the rhymes used not only with the picture cards but in the upcoming Spinner Game too.

✅Activity #3 includes a spinner activity. There are 12 different game boards, each with a two spinners. You can add two paperclips and a pencil to create the spinners easily. Your students will spin the spinners on their boards and determine if the words rhyme or do not rhyme. There is a recording sheet that allows your students to record by "x-ing" the box on the correct table as to whether or not the pictures rhyme. The game ends when either the "yes" or "no" table is complete. These spinners are now included in color and B&W versions to meet your printing needs. Your students will especially love this activity. Spinners are always a hit with my students! And they love predicting if yes or no will win!
