Description

A visual for 1st and 2nd graders to learn their addition facts. This sheet helps provide them a visual, as they transition from the manipulative to the mental math.

All students can learn their math facts - Read on, please.

I highly recommend the teacher do a daily "Spaced Repetition (Instructional) System" methodology with doubles...until they are mastered by all students. It will not take more than a week and a half to two weeks.

Then, use the same system with Doubles, plus 1 to learn the fact above...when done use the same systems to do Doubles, minus 1 to learn the fact below. In a 3 weeks, all kiddos will own their addition facts.

Make 10. Use the addition facts to learn the multiplication facts. There is a white paper "Accelerated Student Math Fact Mastery" on this TPT website (FREE, too) that will explain how to do this. We always had 98% or more of our kiddos owning their math facts using this system. We were an urban, Title 1 school with over 95% low income - 65% LEP...and we were a National Blue Ribbon and Naitonal Blue Ribbon Profile School in 4 years. It is doable...and these kiddos are given an equitable education, which is what they deserve!

I make everything free on this site to help our most needy students.

Best to you and your students! Blaine Helwig
