Floss Rule or Double-Consonants or the double trouble rule can be a very tricky spelling pattern for students to learn! This resource provides students with many ways to practice! I use this as a supplemental resource to go with our Orton Gillingham program! My students love the hands on activities for literacy centers and small group intervention or phonics strategic groups. I use the worksheets for center, homework, morning work, and partner work.

This resource offers a variety of was to practice the 1-1-1 Rule with -ll, -ff, -zz, -ss.

Here's What's Included:

  • Cut & Paste- Sort words into columns.

  • Color by Code

  • Spelling- Spell the Picture listed (these come with Black & White Clipart AND in Color Clipart for center purposes or if you just want to add some color to your worksheets!)

  • Read each word. Write a word that rhymes with the word listed. Words used: miss, yell, huff, mess, mill, tell, fuzz.

  • Say the name of the picture. Circle the words that rhyme with the picture.

  • Sort by Writing- Read the words from the word bank. Write the words in the correct columns

  • Fill in the missing word in the sentence.

  • Use the word listed in a sentence.

  • Page 16 - 17: (these are differentiated) Page 16, look at the picture and the words written. Circle the correct spelling of the word then write the word. Page 17, is easier because there's no words to choose from.

  • Matching- Cut and paste the word under the correct picture.

  • Sorting cards to be used in a pocket chart or a word sort at a center.

  • Puzzle cards: Students match the beginning of the word to the ending word. Pictures included.
