Description
Domination is a game that has evolved slowly over the years in my classroom, but has become more and more of a fixture with each new iteration. I originally created it as a fun way to get students to practice using the slope formula, and it still is best used to practice repetitive skills or practice using formulas.
I have Google Sheets available in my store that will calculate and check students' answers for Calculating Slope, Writing Linear Equations From Two Points, Solving Systems of Equations, Pythagorean Theorem, Quadratic Formula, Factoring Quadratics, Simple Interest, Discounts & Markups, Basic Area & Perimeter, as well as an Adaptable Version which can be used for any content (all you have to do is enter all of the questions and their answers). More versions are always being added!
Divide students into 4 teams: Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue. As they solve problems correctly, they can go up to the Interactive Whiteboard and change a square to their team's color. They can claim any square as long as it touches another square of their team's color - even if another team has already claimed it! The team with the most squares claimed at the end of the game wins.
This was created in Google Sheets, though it should work in Excel as well.
