Description

Goal: Create a sense of community and positivity within your school, while promoting diversity and inclusion.

Utilizing Kristen Bell and Benjamin Hart's new book "The World Needs More Purple People" integrate these activities to allow students to learn to value each other’s differences, engage in activities that promote diversity and inclusion, and an opportunity to their authentic selves. The book focuses on 5 principles to being a purple person: 1) Ask (really great) questions; 2) Laugh (a lot); 3) Use your voice (and don't lose your voice; 4) Work hard (super-duper hard); and 5) Just be (the real) you.

Following these activities, a School Counselor may plan a “Purple day” to celebrate differences within your school for a whole day! Each student could wear their purple shirt, complete fun activities within their classes, and engage with one another.
