Introducing our Disguise a Turkey Project – a family engagement activity and persuasive writing lesson that is bound to captivate young minds! Families are encouraged to join the mission of saving Mr. Turkey from becoming the centerpiece of a Thanksgiving feast. Equipped with our specially designed turkey template, students, along with their families, will create their own disguises for their turkeys.
The premise is simple yet enchanting: Mr. Turkey is on a quest to evade his fate on the dining table this Thanksgiving, and he needs help from our young students to pull off his great escape.
We provide each student with a comprehensive packet to send home to families. Inside, you'll find a heartfelt letter penned by Mr. Turkey himself, designed to be sent home with students, along with the essential turkey pattern.
Once the disguised turkeys are returned to school, students will write a persuasive piece explaining why they are not a turkey. Written on speech bubbles, students will write: "I am not a turkey. I am a _______ because I have _________."
