Discounts taxes and percent of change activity

Get ready for an engaging Percent Activity that will challenge your students' shopping skills! This activity will have students calculating subtotals, applying discounts, sales taxes, and percent of change on real-world purchases. It's a perfect fit for small group work or as a Math Center activity!

Equipped with a "Savvy Sales Guide," students will choose an outfit using discounted prices. They will then calculate the subtotal, including sales tax, a customizable "Daily Discount," and finally determine the ultimate final cost. To showcase their work, students will record their calculations on "Customer Receipts" designed to resemble actual sales slips.

To provide further differentiation, an Extension Activity is included! Students will calculate the Percentage of Discount applied to each item of clothing previously chosen and then calculate their Savings to Spending Ratio.

This activity is an excellent opportunity for students to practice real-life math skills while having fun and sharpening their problem-solving abilities.
