Dilations | Transformations | Cartesian Plane | Lesson and Assessment Bundle

This lesson, activity and assessment bundle is everything you need to teach your students about coordinates in the all four quadrants of the cartesian plane and how to perform reflections (flips), translations (slides), rotations (turns) and dilations (enlargements and reductions), as well as how to use the proper vocabulary to describe them.

Both the digital and printable versions include:

1) Lesson: In “present mode” use the built in transitions to make learning easier through step by step thorough instructions and demonstrations.

2) Guided Practice: At the end of the lesson portion, students are given the opportunity to practice with teacher guidance. Show digitally through your video conferencing of choice or through the use of a document arm, giving the students the opportunity to see how each transformation is performed and the correct use of geometry vocabulary used in this unit.

3) Individual Practice: A second version of the performing and describing transformation activities for students to complete independently - either digitally for distance learning or centers or on paper for in-class students.

4) Google Form Assessment/ Math Centers: After teaching your students about describing transformations, give them the opportunity to apply their knowledge with these 10 transformations task cards. Use the digital Google Form version as a virtual math center or assessment OR use the printable task card activity as a individual or collaborative math center, depending on where you are in your unit. Great for both in-class and for distance learning!

* Please note that the task cards, for both versions, are the same. This allows you to choose whether to use them digitally or on paper.

* Also, the Google form is not self checking. This is because students may write their answers using a different order or spelling than the form is formatted in and although their answer may be correct, it would say say otherwise. Instead, an answer sheet has been provided. If you have any questions, please let me know.
