Hi there!
This is a collection of digraph centres that I use to teach and reinforce the beginning digraphs sh, th, ch, ph and wh and the ending digraphs -ch, -th, -sh, -ck, -ng and -nk.
In 2024 this pack got a HUGE update! Like many of you, I have been diving into learning about how the brain learns to read based on research (commonly referred to as Science of Reading) and so I have made most of the decoding and encoding activities more “decodable”. Meaning, I have only included sounds that are typically taught before digraphs whenever possible which include the sounds for each letter of the alphabet, long and short sounds for vowels, blends and the FLSZ rule. There are a few places where I used /ee/ but I thought many students may know that sound as it is often introduced early as a heart part when introducing the high frequency word “see”.
As always, I make it my mission to create engaging, multisensory activities for our little learners! I hope you and your students enjoy these!
