Description

Students will love this engaging practice activity for linear relationships. They must try to escape a haunted house! Includes Google Slides and PowerPoint versions.

They are given 14 problems to solve, choosing from 3 possible answers for each one. If they solve correctly, they will choose the correct door and avoid the scary giant spiders! If they make a mistake, a spider appears, and they are prompted to try again.

Problems include linear graphs, table of values, equations, and stories.

This is self-checking practice. Students will not turn in any work, and you will not need to grade anything. They will know as they work if they are answering correctly.

This resource is editable, so you can customize it to fit your students. All text can be changed. Graphs are images and can be removed, but not edited. (Be sure if you change the problems, you keep the correct answer on the correct door so the Haunted House still works for students!)

Construct a function to model a linear relationship between two quantities. Determine the rate of change and initial value of the function from a description of a relationship or from two (𝘹, 𝘺) values, including reading these from a table or from a graph. Interpret the rate of change and initial value of a linear function in terms of the situation it models, and in terms of its graph or a table of values.
