Description

Let's get digital, digital!

The long-awaited Current Event Template is here! Use it time and time again to encourage your students spend their own time reading the news and researching the world around them!

This resource asks students to answer a series of questions (who, what, where, when, why, how, the event's significance and a connection from the classroom to the event) for each time it is used. Use the resource however it best fits your room. My students read an article on NewsELA each week. It is a constant source of information as we share at the end of the week.

Continue to marry education and technology in your 21st century classroom with this fabulous resource that introduces encourages students to think before they act when using their cell phones!

Teaching in a 1:1 district is a blessing, but not everyone has that luxury. If needed, incorporate digital resources slowly, through resources like Google Drive, Google Classroom and Microsoft Drive, or even email! A paperless classroom is an amazing thing to aspire towards - it certainly yields less paperwork!

Digital learning provides numerous opportunities for differentiation, modification, collaboration and more. It provides students with the opportunity to self-pace and self-assess, changing how we know and understand education.

You may be asking what is a digital resource? In reality, it's not much different from the tactile experience. Essentially, an educator distributes their materials in a web-based platform, like Google Drive, which reproduces to their students and their devices. Students then are able to access, edit, alter and print files from their own technologies.

Using digital learning tools is amazing! It doesn't require printing (and jammed printers), often features automatic save, maintains students' documents in a single location, is highly engaging and so much more! I'm typing this on a computer now, aren't I?!

This project is accessible in both printable and digital formats. Simply print the included PDF for a tactile experience. The resource is available in both PowerPoint and PDF forms, as well as in Google Slides (link in Legal Pages). Please note that the PDF form is in a fillable document - it should allow for direct typing in form style. The use of color in this is minimal to ensure lack of ink waste. My students preferred completing it on Microsoft OneNote and made their notes/marks with Microsoft Ink or typing directly onto the printed slides.
